In the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic and the revised Bowls New Zealand High Performance plan for 2020-2021, after a thorough process the following high performance appointments have been made:
High Performance Coaches x 4:
- Sharon Sims
- Graeme Rees
- Evan Roberts
- Gayle Melrose
National Head Selector:
Philip Skoglund Jnr
The personnel above will work with the incumbent Bowls NZ High Performance Management Team:
- High Performance Manager – Kaushik Patel
- National Head Coach – Peter Belliss
- High Performance Consultant – John Quinn
The revised plan will see the National Head Coach and Head Selector meet with the newly appointed HP coaches as well as the previous HP coaches from January 2019- June 2020 to discuss all the athletes that have been part of the High Performance and the Talent Development squads over the last 18 months.
Thereafter the Head Coach and Head Selector will select a High Performance squad of athletes (14-18 athletes) for the next 18 months, these athletes will be assigned to the 4 x HP Coaches and plans put in place for each to plan and prepare for selection for the Trans -Tasman series 2021 and the rescheduled World Champs in 2021.
It is likely that the teams for both of these events will be selected from the high performance squad but the selection team reserve the right to go outside of it if deemed necessary.
