The Pt Chevalier Pirates have a chance to make up ground on the early pacesetters in week four of the Bowls3Five televised league.
The defending champions are languishing in sixth place in the eight team competition, with a two win, four loss record, but play three games over the next three nights while two of the top four, the Stoke Thunder and Gore Rams, have byes this week.
If the Pirates can go three from three at the New Lynn Bowling Club this week they could move into the top three over halfway through the round-robin, otherwise they could find themselves entrenched in the bottom three which will scrap to stay in the competition next year.
Kevin Morris will again skip Pt Chevalier in their game against Auckland rivals the Royal Oak Rockets tomorrow night (Tuesday, November 12), with Jenny Stockford and Aiden Takarua named to play alongside him.
The bottom of the table Rockets are continuing to search for answers and have named their fourth different triple. Lisa Mundell and Martin Dixon will return to the Royal Oak line-up, alongside skip John Carruthers.
The Auckland derby will be the second and final match of the night, with the Parajacks and Elmwood Park Saints to open week four.
The Parajacks are also playing catch-up after a week off and three defeats following their opening win over the Pirates.
Bruce Wakefield will return to their triple, alongside Mark Noble, while Lynda Bennett will make her Bowls3Five debut.
Gary Lawson will skip a new-look Saints triple, with Jan Shirley and Nathan Glasson to join him for the first time as Elmwood Park will look to bounce back from successive defeats.
All four teams will also feature on Wednesday night (November 13), with the Parajacks to have a double-header against Royal Oak and the Hinuera Heat, while the Saints will square-off against the Pirates.
Hinuera will then play twice on Thursday (November 14) against the Stokes Valley Vipers and Pt Chevalier, while equal top of the table Vipers will meet the Rockets in the second game of their double-header.
All eight of this week’s games will be broadcast live on Sky Sport 9.
