There are a few things that we wish to bring to your attention ahead of the tournament getting underway – as below:
- Draw / Venue Allocation
- Please re-check the draw for your involvement in the tournament. There have been a few changes to venues in recent days and while we have endeavoured to ensure that all affected parties have been directly advised, we ask that you double-check your venue on our website for each scheduled day of play. If you have any concerns, please let us know.
- Singles Play – Markers
- Bowls NZ and clubs hosting Singles play have been working very hard to ensure the best possible coverage of games with markers. At this stage, that work is still ongoing and we are unable to be certain that every rink will be covered by a marker on all occasions. Players may be required to keep their own scorecard and should be prepared to be without a marker on some occasions. Wherever possible there will be some markers available on each green to straighten the jack, remove out of bounds bowls and other basic requirements but players should be aware that, especially for the Men’s singles qualifying day (6th January), they may need to play without the support of a dedicated marker.
- Pairs
- We have had a few messages from players wishing to reverse their order for Pairs play. Bowls NZ are happy for pairs teams to advise their opposition and umpire if their lead / skip order will not be as prescribed on the scorecard and / or in the programme for any game.
- Breakfast Catering – Carlton Cornwall
- Carlton Cornwall Bowling Club have advised that their caterer will be offering a breakfast option each day from around 7.00am for players and supporters. Menu details and pricing will be on display at the venue.
- Waitlist for Late Entries
- We are happy to place players on a wating list for all disciplines in order to avoid a bye round. We presently have a bye in two sections of the Women’s Pairs. Please let us know if you would like to be added to a waitlist for any discipline.
- Results
- Game results will be entered onto each section’s chart and displayed in the clubhouse during the day of play. A photo of the chart will be taken after each round and sent to the Bowls NZ administration office for uploading of results to the Bowls NZ website. Please check this chart after each round to ensure its accuracy and advise the recorder at the venue if there are any mistakes within it so that they can be corrected promptly.
