Thank you all for your patience while we considered another one of those COVID-19 decisions that was not straight-forward, as we balanced varying opinions on how we could deliver a National Event within the existing COVID-19 Protection Framework setting.
Bowls New Zealand wishes to advise that the 2022 Rangatahi Bowls Under 20’s Singles Championships (March 26th & 27th) and the 2022 Nationals Secondary School Bowls3Five Championships (March 28th & 29th) have been cancelled.
The decision to cancel these events was based upon the number of schools that were not prepared to travel to Auckland under the current COVID-19 Protection Framework setting, whereby the risk of exposure to COVID-19 and the added risk of the possibility of the need for a player or players to self-isolate were deemed key factors.
Bowls New Zealand will explore an option to run some regional events, whereby the winners could be invited to a National Finals Tournament. We will advise on this concept in due course.
