Bowls Canterbury’s clubs and greens will host the country’s first major event of 2022 when the Summerset National Singles and Pairs Tournament gets underway on 2nd January. Last staged in Canterbury in 2020, the region’s high quality playing surfaces will again provide the perfect stage for the country’s best singles and pairs players to test their skills against each other. The event will again incorporate competitions for players affiliated to the New Zealand Blind Lawn Bowls Association (NZBLBA) and the New Zealand Disabled Lawn Bowls Association (NZDLBA).
Following on from the success of taking the Summerset National Fours Tournament to regional New Zealand (Bay of Plenty in 2020 and, with the addition of the Summerset National Mixed Pairs Tournament, Central Otago in 2021), Bowls Taranaki will welcome teams to their greens for the Summerset National Fours and Summerset National Mixed Pairs Tournaments from 24th – 27th February and 28th February – 3rd March respectively.
Bowls North Harbour will host the premier centre representative event, the National Intercentre Tournament from 17th March, and Bowls Wellington will host the National Interclub Sevens Tournament from 7th – 10th April.

Alexandra Bowling Club - Any Combination Pairs Tournament
In addition to our ANZAC Men's Fours, and by popular request, we have added an Optional/Any Combination pairs competition on Monday 24th and the afternoon of Tuesday 25th (ANZAC Day). The top 32 teams only will qualify for Day 2. The entry fee will include morning and afternoon tea on Monday, and afternoon tea on Tuesday. Lunch will not be provided but will be available for purchase.
We are hoping that by adding this second tournament players in the ANZAC Fours might bring their partners, friends or colleagues along and extend their stay in the Central Otago region. Partners might like, for example, to spend a couple of days shopping or sightseeing in Queenstown or wine tasting around the Alexandra area, then play in the pairs competition.Tournament Director: Bruce Douglas/Paul Jerrom
