New Zealand has won the Trans Tasman Bowls test series against Australia for the first time since 2011 at Broadbeach Bowling Club on the Gold Coast.
The NZ team led by World No 1 Jo Edwards led the way with 7 out of 9 wins in the NZ Women's team & supported by a great performance by Ali Forsyth with 6 wins & a draw in the Men's team sees the Trans-Tasman trophy head back to NZ & give the squad & the selectors a great boost of confidence going into the 2018 Commonwealth Games to be played at the same venue.
The Trans-Tasman event was the final NZ trial prior to the team been selected for the games & with the NZ result it is unlikely that the selectors will make many if any changes to the soon to be selected 10 man side, however the Selectors may well be looking closely at a couple of positions that may need some fine tuning prior to the games to get a greater level of consistency in key matches.
Edwards showed her true international class as did Forsyth & similar performance from our leading 2 players supported by a consistent performance from the team overall will put NZ in a strong position for Medals come the Commonwealth Games.
The NZ Women won their test series 2-1 & the NZ Men lost 2-1 on points differential, however the combined Men's & Women's result see NZ take the trophy on a favourable points differential  & give NZ a great confidence boosting result.
