Playing for Gold today will be the NZ Representative Dean Elgar of the West End club in Taranaki, Elgar became the NZ Representative by winning the NZ Men's Singles earlier this year at the National Championships held in New Plymouth.

The Men's field had 28 countries represented & going into the last day of Section play Elgar was sitting 9th out of 13 in his section Elgar then turned on a masterful display to have wins over Wales, Singapore, and Malaysia to see him jump from 9th to 3rd in his section & win his way into the quarter finals where he defeated the Irish representative & then followed that up with a convincing Semi-Finals win over Scotland to win his way through to the final where we will see Elgar up against the Australian representative Aaron Teys who defeated Wales in his semi-final-----A remarkable 2 days has seen Dean Elgar move from virtually out of contention instead he has won his way  into the final of the World Champion of Champion singles which will be played at the St Johns club in Sydney at 2.00pm (Australian time) on Sunday.

In the Women's field comprising of 24 countries NZ were represented by Selina Goddard of Auckland, Godard was impressive in the round robin play winning her section thus going straight through to the semi-finals but not to be for Goddard a current NZ representative as she was defeated by Wales in her semi-final.

The Women's final will be between Wales & Malaysia.
