Bowls New Zealand is pleased to announce the Bowls New Zealand High Performance squad recently selected by the Bowls New Zealand Selection Panel (see squads below). It is a unique squad combining open and para athletes.

These squads will immediately start preparing for a spot in the NZ team for the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games being held in July/August 2022. It will be an intensive training schedule for the next three months, mainly on croquet greens around the country, the slow speed of which best resemble the greens expected in Birmingham for the games.

The current squad size of 42 will be reduced to 26 for the Trans-Tasman Test series being held 16-18 November of this year, and again to 16 for the Commonwealth Games itself, the final selection for the games will take place in January 2022 for the Para team and February for the open team.

With a dedicated team of incredible coaches led by Campaign Lead Coach Mike Kernaghan to support the athletes and a strong campaign plan, New Zealand will be well represented on the international stage.
