Story Takeover

Thank you for participating in a special takeover of our Instagram/Facebook Story! Sharing your day and talking about your experiences in a takeover is a great way to showcase our sport to the bowling community and beyond that to people who may be interested in our sport.

A good story has a beginning, middle, and end. Before you begin, think about what your take over will look like, and plan to show viewers your unique experiences.

Here are a few things you should do:

  • Log in as soon as you receive the password. Instagram’s security features may prevent you from logging in if you’re not in New Zealand, and we may need to take additional steps to give you access.
  • Always start your takeover with an introduction, and let the audience know why you are doing a takeover.
  • If you can try to include a variety of locations and activities in your story.
  • Include a mix of videos and photos. Not everyone will be viewing the story with the volume turned up, so be sure to overlay text where you can!
  • People want to hear about what you’re up to. If you are at a tournament you could: Let people know where you are, how you got there, who you are with, what games you have played so far, what’s been good or bad and whats still to come.
  • Remember that sound is important in a video clip, so be conscious of background noise, wind, etc.
  • Be sure to end your takeover with goodbye and thank everyone for following along!

Our Instagram story is meant to be entertaining and informative for users of all ages. As such, we strive to keep the content PG. Content that is not allowed includes (but may not be limited to):

  • Foul language
  • Alcohol, tobacco, or drugs
  • Sexual content
  • Any illegal activity

Any content deemed inappropriate will be removed, and administrators may take back control of the account without warning.

Other things to think about:

  • Be consistent! Sometimes people lose steam throughout the day, so be sure to pace yourself.
  • Focus on quality over quantity! If your story is too long users won’t watch until the end. Between 10–15 posts is ideal.
  • Don’t follow or unfollow any other Instagram users, view users’ stories, or like/comment on posts.
  • Feel free to include shout outs to others and tell people to follow you on own social media accounts.
  • Stay true to yourself and have fun!

Thanks again for your hard work! We look forward to following your story!
